A crown jewel of Liszt’s late period, Les jeux d'eaux à la Villa d'Este (The Fountains of the Villa d'Este) is more than just a character piece—it is a revolutionary work of art that fundamentally changed the way the piano was played. Composed in 1877, it serves as the spiritual and technical centerpiece of the third volume of his Années de pèlerinage (Years of Pilgrimage).
