Collection: Dvořák - Four Romantic Pieces, Op. 75 (for violin and piano)

Antonín Dvořák’s Four Romantic Pieces, Op. 75, composed in January 1887, is a beloved suite for violin and piano that transforms intimate chamber music into an intensely lyrical journey. Originally written as a set of simple string trios for two violins and viola (Miniatures, Op. 75a) to be played with an amateur violinist friend, Dvořák quickly recognized their expressive depth and rearranged them for violin and piano. The suite consists of four contrasting movements—an affectionate Allegro moderato, a rhythmic and folk-infused Allegro meztoso, a soaring and expressive Allegro appassionato, and a haunting, elegiac Lento—that together demonstrate Dvořák’s mastery of songlike melody, rich Bohemian folk influences, and delicate harmonic textures.
